Here are our Journeys
My final year project whilst at university was an exploration into the realtionship of music and place. www.hereareourjourneys.com
The final piece is a system that allows users to record and share their physical movements whilst listening to music. The prototype takes logs from an iPod (via iTunes) and a GPS unit and collates these online. The journey can then be shared via the website using a live representation.
This representation is created by showing relevant data from media providers. Images taken and geotagged around the area of the journey are shown along with a map of the journey and a you tube video of the music. Flickr, Yahoo and YouTube provide the data via thier API’s, so all the data is upto date and constantly changing.
The project was prototyped using Adobe Flex along with a PHP and MYSQL back end. The project has also been exhibited at New Designers and Made in Brunel and has appeared on these blogs:
